TheSwimmingPools are pleased to announce the release of Living It Up, a new song and video celebrating the city of Los Angeles. Shortly after moving to LA, TheSwimmingPools began a series of guerrilla style “driveup” performances - these wildly free and fun performances became the foundation for the Living It Up video. The unsuspecting audience’s reactions, from shocked and stunned to giddy and playful, highlight the raw energy of TheSwimmingPools’ performances.
Known for their unique electronic sound and iconic images that reference Grace Jones, Iggy Pop, Depeche Mode, and newer artists such as Oliver and Gessafelstein, TheSwimmingPools (Christophe Doloire/Daniel Smith) began making music in 2004 in New York City and have performed throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States. Their work has been remixed by leading DJ’s such as Cinnamon Chasers, Moonbootica, and Suburban Dance Club and they have been photographed by leading artists such as Mariano Vivanco for Vogue Magazine, Hedi Slimane, Marcelo Krasilcic, Karine Laval and Jason Rodgers. They have been featured in Out magazine, Crush Fanzine, Les Echos, Huffington Post, FAB magazine and were interviewed by Josh Rosenzweig for LOGO/Here Media’s program Just Josh. Fall 2016 will see the release of TheSwimmingPools’ performance and interview on a BBC/7 Wonder program.
TheSwimmingPools have also explored one of a kind dance party and DJ events. Combining elements of performance art, cabaret and contemporary dance, their now legendary parties (2009-2014) on New York’s Fire Island attracted thousands of revelers each summer and helped to usher in a new wave of art and performance to the Fire Island community.
TheSwimmingPools have three full length albums (I Fall In Love 100 Times A Day (2006), When You Don’t Know What You Want (2008), and At The Edge Of The World (2011)) and a four song EP (Move To Love (2013)). They live in Hollywood and continue to expand and explore their work.
